BACKGROUND

I consider my life experiences as myriad adventures of seemingly disparate parts with art + curiosity so often woven through my journey. I’m a botanist/ecologist, teacher, an MBA graduate, headed up corporate services, a marketing /business consultant + artist. I was born in Sydney, Australia + raised in Brisbane, where I was fortunate to grow up in a flora + fauna sanctuary. Since childhood, I’ve lived in 14 homes + 3 countries, happily explored 39 other countries + their amazing cultures + environs. My current residences are in Paradise Valley, Arizona with my husband + our dogs, as well as Sunshine Beach, Noosa Heads, Australia.

INFLUENCE

My current work is a journey of discovery + finding my artistic voice. From my earliest memories I have been enthralled with the natural world - for me, nature is the ultimate expression of beauty + serves as a constant joy + wonder every day of my life. I draw inspiration from the all-encompassing grand scale + broad relationships to venturing deep into the wonderful complexity minutiae - how, why + wow!

STATEMENT

As an abstract artist my work is driven more from heart + less from head.
The colors + shapes arise from a sense, an emotion, a memory, a feeling of being in nature, they are expressed in abstraction to reveal the tensions + relationships that I feel exist.

I glimpse a fleeting moment from the corner of my eye, a wafting scent, a recognized sound or shape.  I feel those memories from the past + I seek an interpretation that is abstract or pleasantly juxtaposed, but I know exactly what it is.  To me the abstract conveys the curiosity, the mystery, the feeling of being in that place without exactly defining or revealing what or where it is.
